Items larger than most mobile phones are banned - that includes laptops, tablets and cameras. They must be checked into hold luggage instead. US citizen Kelly Andrews is returning to the US after a holiday in Morocco. She says the ban is "ridiculous". "I didn't realise that my camera has to be in there, and I'm really afraid that my expensive camera is going to be broken," she says. Royal Air Maroc says it is analysing the new rules set by the US Department of Homeland Security. The airline, Morocco's national carrier, is one of many affected by the Trump administration's tightening of security measures. All passengers received an email from the airline before their flights to inform them of the restrictions. Moroccan citizen Sofia Douslimane is flying to Washington DC. She says the ban is discriminatory and has not been clearly explained. But she was expecting something of this nature from the new US President's administration. "Coming from Trump, this does not surprise me. We can except so many things from him," she says. "But I don't understand why such a developed country as the US is implementing restrictions like this. To me it's not clear, it's not good politics at all." Casablanca airport is a major hub in Africa and Morocco's busiest airport, serving around 8 million passengers a year. The ban will apply to non-stop flights to the US from 10 international airports serving the cities of Cairo in Egypt; Amman in Jordan; Kuwait City in Kuwait; Casablanca in Morocco; Doha in Qatar; Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia; Istanbul in Turkey; and Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The ban is indefinite. However, some companies request to see the Family Record Book registration, in accordance with their internal policies. We recommend that you contact your airline to confirm the documentation that you may need. Children older than 14 years old should carry the same documentation as adults. The majority of companies provide special services for children –games, books, etc.– and also children's menus, if requested in advance. If you are travelling with a baby, please take into consideration the following recommendations: - Babies can fly from 48 hours after their birth onwards. However, it is recommended that they do not fly until one week after their birth for short flights and at least three weeks for long-haul flights. - In general, it is a good idea to inform the airline you are travelling with in advance, especially if you are going to need a special seat for your baby. - Babies may travel throughout Spanish territory without documentation. However, some companies request to see the Family Record Book registration, in accordance with their internal policies. We recommend that you contact your airline to confirm the documentation that you may need. Should you fall ill, the airline's medical service will study the possibility of whether you fly or not and the conditions of flight. You may be transported on a stretcher or given one or more seats, and should contact the airline regarding the conditions and fares applicable in each case. When transported on a stretcher, you must be accompanied by another person. Travelling on planes is safe for pregnant women who have not had previous complications. The majority of airlines do not impose specific authorisations for women travelling within their first 28 weeks of pregnancy.Airlines do however recommend that women more than 28 weeks pregnant travel with medical authorisation. Airlines similarly recommend that women more than 36 weeks pregnant do not fly. If you need to travel, you should consult the situation with your doctor and travel with obligatory medical authorization. In the majority of cases, you will need to sign airline's Waiver of Responsibility with regard to problems that could potentially arise as a result of your condition. Contact your airline to check the measures that apply in these cases. SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Jorge Assuncau, Air France manager in Rio de Janeiro: "Air France regrets to inform that it has no news about Air France flight 447 that was connecting between Rio de Janeiro and Paris Charles de Gaulle, estimated to arrive this morning at 11:15 am local time. It left Rio at 6:45am. The flight took off from Rio de Janeiro on May 31st at 1900 pm local time. We opened another centre at the Windsor Barra hotel in Rio de Janeiro, it is open already and we are receiving, as of now, the family members and friends of passengers on our flight." 7. Relatives of missing passengers being ushered onto bus, bus drives away STORYLINE: Relatives of passengers onboard a missing Air France jet carrying 228 people from Rio de Janeiro to Paris waited for news of their loved ones at Rio's Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport on Monday. The plane ran into a tower of thunderstorms and heavy turbulence over the Atlantic Ocean, officials said. They fear that all aboard were lost. Brazil's military searched for the plane off its northeast coast, while the French military scoured the Atlantic off the West African coast near the Cape Verde Islands. Air France spokesperson Brigitte Barrand said flight 447, a four-year-old Airbus A330, left Rio on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. local time (2230 GMT, 6:30 pm EDT) with 216 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The plane left Brazil radar contact, past the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, about three hours later (10:48 Brazil time, 0148 GMT, 9:48 pm EDT). Chief Air France spokesperson Francois Brousse said "it is possible" the plane was hit by lightning. Brazil's air force was searching near the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, about 300 kilometres (180 miles) northeast of the coastal city of Natal, a spokesman said, speaking on condition of anonymity in keeping with department policy. Air France said in a statement that it expressed "its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew members" aboard flight 447. Air France said it is "mobilised" to help the families and is offering psychological assistance to them. Air France's manager in Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Assuncau, said two centres have been set up to assist relatives of those missing - one at the airport and another at a city hotel. http://www.euronews.com/ On this edition of U talk Peter from London was wondering about the rights of disabled passengers who are taking flights in Europe, he asked: "Recently at the airport I saw a lady in a wheel chair who was refused boarding as she was not accompanied. Doesn't the EU protect passengers with reduced mobility? To whom can she complain?" "The response came from Malgorzata Kurowska, Senior Comminication Officer with Europe Direct, she said: "Indeed, there are EU rules on the rights of air passengers with reduced mobility that have been in force since 2007. Under these rules, airlines are prohibited from discriminating against people with reduced mobility or to deny boarding on the basis of their health state. "However, an air carrier can refuse to embark a person with reduced mobility or to request him or her to be accompanied by another person in order to meet safety or security requirements. The air carrier must inform the person concerned of its reasons within five working days after the refusal. "We strongly advise people with reduced mobility to contact the airline before departure and explain what assistance he or she might need. "A passenger with reduced mobility can get free of charge assistance at airports on departure, arrival or during transit and on board of aircrafts. For example, the transport of wheelchairs and the carriage of guide dogs for the blind. "In case an airport fails to respect these rules, a passenger can lodge a complaint with the national enforcement body in the country where the incident happened. Or when the person did not get assistance on board of an aircraft, he or she needs then to contact the authorities of the EU country which issued the operating licence to the air carrier."
